Ins and Outs of Snapchat

What is it? Snapchat is a social media app where you can call your friends, try out new filters or even watch some clips about cooking, beauty and gaming.

How can I keep safe on snapchat?

To keep safe on Snapchat, you can turn off your location or keep it private. Put it on so only your friends can see what you post - you can keep your story off and hide your age too. Don’t send pictures and videos to people you do not know and don’t add strangers online.

What to do if you get bullied on Snapchat:

If people use inappropriate language or call you names, you can:

  1. Screenshot it for evidence.

  2. Report them on the app or tell an adult.

  3. Block them.

What to do if you get a friend request and don’t recognise the user:

If you don't recognise the user name or are unsure who it is, ask the person you think it might be in real life or just don't accept them - as it could be someone you don't know. If you don’t know the person, click decline and if they keep on friending you, block them.

Warning: Also, make sure you don’t do any of this mean stuff to other people online - it is called cyberbullying. If you do, you could get reported, have your account deleted and even worse- you could get reported to the police.

Remember, whatever you post online, stays online forever!
