At Brimington Junior School, we believe staying safe online is very important! There are lots of things you can do to keep yourself safe while using social media and the internet. One of our Year 6 Mini Techies, Ryan, has come up with his top tips to help you out!

1. First of all, when setting up an account for a game or on social media, you need to create a username which isn’t your real name.

2. Whilst using social media, if a stranger attempts to talk to you, you need to block them or tell an adult straight away.

3. Importantly, you must keep your personal information a secret. This is information like your address, what school you go to, your phone number and email address.

4. Don’t arrange to meet anyone you have met online - they might not be who they say they are!

5. Only accept friend requests from people you know.

6. If you have a social media account (like Facebook, Instagram or TikTok), make sure your profile is set to private so only people you know can see your posts or photos.
