'48% of children have been exposed to social media by age seven' (Vodafone)

In our last Online Safety assembly the mini techies discussed how to have a 'healthy relationship' with social media and how to stay safe online. Social media can have many positive uses such as bridging distances, talking to friends and family and building communities. We just need to remember to use privacy settings and think before we post.

In our assembly we mentioned the story '#Goldilocks' by Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross. It it a modern twist on the classic fairy tale! Because of this, the children loved it and were all listening beautifully throughout the assembly.

What was covered in the book?

Vodafone shared this story on their website to help educate children about being unkind to others online, sharing selfies and oversharing on social media. The children discussed these issues and linked all their discussions back to privacy settings and remembering to not share any personal information over the internet.

We encourage all parents reading to keep monitoring your children's social media/ gaming sites and ensure their privacy settings are turned on to keep them safe!
